21C Museum Hotel Heads to Miami's Design District

Miami's Design Distric is welcoming it's first ever museum hotel: C21. This contemporary 135 room hotel will be a part of the mixed use development brought to you by Helm Equities and company founders and husband-wife duo, Steve Wilson and Laura Lee Brown. The name stems from 21st Century, reflecting the dynamic nature of the Design District, an area that has transformed into a luxury shopping, dining and cultural destination for Miami.

C21 will feature a driven food and beverage concept as well as a rooftop terrace and bar.  This project will mark the brand’s first project in Florida. C21 currently operates 6 hotels around the US: Louisville, Cincinnati, Durham, Oklahoma City, Lexington, and Bentonville.

The intention of this one of a kind property is to “mix in and fuse together art, entertainment and culture all under one roof….” As stated by the principal of Helm Equities, Ayal Horovits. The public spaces within the hotel will serve as contemporary art museum galleries that are free and open to the public. The hotel is expected to feature various art mediums including sculpture, painting, performance, digital art and more.

The interior will be lined with art work and curated shows will be featured from various artists around the world. The concept was developed to help renew inner-city areas through contemporary art. Deborah Berke Partners, a New York based architecture and interior design firm will be leading the design for the hotel, which is expected to begin in 2018.
